Hello Garfield Re-2 Summer School Staff and families:

Summer school has started for many of you, and for others is just around the corner.

We wanted to take a moment to share the COVID-19 guidelines for summer school moving forward. We realize this information may be a bit overdue.
From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Garfield Re-2 School District has committed to following, to the best of our ability, the local, state and federal guidelines. In keeping with the most recent public health orders, Garfield Re-2 will have the following guidelines for summer school:
  • Students K-5 attending summer school will NOT be required to wear a facial covering at school.
  • All students 6th - 12th grade, staff, and adults who ARE fully vaccinated DO NOT need to wear masks indoors.
  • All students 6th - 12th grade, staff, and adults who are unvaccinated or not-fully vaccinated SHOULD wear a mask while indoors.
  • CDC guidelines state that passengers and drivers must wear a mask on school buses, therefore, Garfield Re-2 will continue operating our buses as we have all year.
Facial coverings are not required outside.

  • The Garfield Re-2 custodial, facilities and transportation crews will continue their intensified cleaning protocols. Teachers will continue their emphasis on hand washing (this one simple step can decrease so many other illnesses), and our schools will have ample hand sanitizer on hand for students and staff.

Please reach out to your building principal if you have any questions about these guidelines.

Thank you,

Garfield Re-2 Administration
